BUSINESS EDUCATION NETWORK
The Business Education Network's mission is to develop our community’s future workforce by providing students with a deeper understanding of career opportunities and aligning skills with current workforce needs; engaging employers directly with students, education and training providers; and better aligning programs and curriculum to the realities of the West Central Minnesota and overall Minnesota economy.
What is BEN?
Classroom to Career: A wide variety of business professionals visit classes across Kandiyohi County to engage with students and help them understand that through the power of education and personal choices, they are in control of their future. Presenters help students realize the many job opportunities that exist - with or without a college degree - right here in the Willmar Lakes Area.
Zero Hour: The Willmar High School starts every Wednesday with Zero Hour. This time is intended for students to catch up on school work. It also gives the Business Education Network an opportunity to have one or two businesses set up tables in the commons area to engage with students. These are not hiring fairs but time spent building relationships to grow our workforce.
Student Job Fair & Career Expo: A workforce development program that brings together area employers with high school students in an interactive environment that allows them an opportunity to inform students about their company or organization. Businesses are able to recruit for full-time or parttime jobs and internships while identifying long term prospects.
